2007 Oneworld Classics Translation Prize
The annual £2,500 Oneworld Classics Translation Prize invites submissions of unpublished translations of classics titles from any language into English. The prize has been founded to raise the awareness and boost the recognition of the art of literary translation, especially among the younger generations. There are no restrictions on the subject matter of translated works, although eligible titles should be of a literary character, preferably by recognized classic authors.
The prize will be awarded in April 2008 (the shortlist will be announced in March). The winners will receive the £2,500 prize as an advance on royalties (or part of an advance on royalties if the work is significantly long), and their work will be published in the Oneworld Classics or Connoisseur series the following year.
